Abba, Father! Who you are to me…

My son introduced me to a song by Chris Tomlin that I have listened to countless times called: Who you are to me. It can be found online and it poses the question as well as answers the question simultaneously of how we as listeners and those singing answer this question. Who is God to us?

I didn’t work outside of home today so I chose to spend time with God, reading His Truth and pondering life in general. It never ceases to amaze me that He graciously meets us where we are. I had questions about giving and generosity when this morning I turned a page in a book I am reading by Joanne Moody called: Everyday Supernatural. I turned the page and there I read the quote by Sir Winston Churchill; What we get is making a living, what we give is making a life….yes Lord, you know how to answer our questions.

I love the Hebrew names of God. In Hebrew a specific name is given to reverence the different aspects of God’s character. Jehovah Jireh (my Provider), Jehovah Rapha (my Healer), Jehovah Shalom (my Peace)….and sooooooo many more. Tears are welling up in my eyes as I write these names because all of us making this journey under the sun knows that we need help beyond ourselves.

Psalms 54:4 says: Surely God is my help; the Lord is the One who sustains me. One line in the aforementioned song says… God is the air that we breathe. I echo that truth. He is my Daddy without whom I would not be sitting here typing these words.

I will conclude with biblical encouragement that I rely on… Isaiah 40:28-31 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary and young men stumble and fall;but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Hallelujah, what awesome imagery. I claim that promise for myself and my family. Are you walking with the Lord? Are you able to claim this promise for yourself and your loved ones? Children of God have the unique privilege of living under the blessing of God’s promises. If you said yes to Jesus, believing that Jesus died for you, forgiving your sins and rose again on the third day to be seated in Heaven with God…those promises are yours to claim and enforce. It’s a story of redemption and power. You might not understand it all to begin with but I promise that saying yes to the adventure of living a life surrendered to Jesus will not diminish you in any way, instead it will equip you to live a life of wonder. It is not a life free from storms, because saying yes to Jesus means we inherit an adversary…. but Jesus already won the war and Holy Spirit teaches us how to enforce that victory daily. Are you tired? Are you weary? Are you hopeless? You need not be. Call on the holy name of Jesus! There is no better hope!

I call out the Holy, Matchless name of Jesus over you!

In gratitude to my King 🙂
